Malawi and Hunan Province
Malawi has had various exchanges with Hunan Province including high-level visits, agriculture cooperation, participation in various conferences and training, medical and health cooperation, capacity building programs and personnel exchanges.
His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi and the Vice President of the Peoples Republic of China, Mr Han Zheng in Changsha, Hunan Province on the sidelines of the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE)
His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi visited Hunan Province from 28th June 2023 to 2nd July 2023 to attend the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in Changsha at the invitation of His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the Peoples Republic of China. As part of the sideline bilateral engagements, President Chakwera officially opened the Consulate General of the Republic of Malawi in Changsha, held bilateral discussions with the Chinese leadership, and held fruitful discussion with potential investors and companies already investing in Malawi.
